Sehr geehrte Emerging MarketsRadar-Leser,

Montag.

+++ Fortuna Silver (WKN: A0ETVA, ISIN: CA3499151080) +++

Wer hier neu einsteigen will, findet weiterhin beste Kaufkurse vor.

Order-Daten:

Name: Fortuna Silver

Wertpapier: Aktie

WKN: A0ETVA

ISIN: CA3499151080

Börsenplatz: Frankfurt

Kauflimit: 1,14 €

+++ VietNam Holding (Kürzel-VNH, ISIN-KYG9361X1043) +++

Neukauf bis 2,05 US$

Order-Daten:

Name: VietNam Holding

Wertpapier: Aktie

TIDM-Kürzel (der Börse London): VNH

WKN: A0J2ZW

ISIN: KYG9361X1043

Börsenplatz: AIM – London Stock Exchange

Kauflimit: 2,05 US$

Kaufen Sie die Aktie mit Limit von 2,05 US$ an der Börse AIM in London.

+++ Banco Itau (US-Kürzel: ITU, ISIN: US0596022014) +++

Neukauf bis 32,05 US$

Order-Daten:

Name: Banco Itau

Wertpapier: Aktie

US-Kürzel: ITU

WKN: 764 916

ISIN: US0596022014

Börsenplatz: NYSE

Kauflimit: 32,05 US$

+++ Egana Goldpfeil Holding (WKN: 887 923, ISIN: KYG2943E1329) +++

Order-Daten:

Name: Egana Goldpfeil Holding

Wertpapier: Aktie

US-Kürzel: ---

WKN: 887 923

ISIN: KYG2943E1329

Börsenplatz: Frankfurt

Kauflimit: 0,38 €

AGGRESSIVE GROWTH BUY LIST
Anadigics (ANAD) -- Buy Under $9

BALLAST GROWTH BUY LIST
Digital River (DRIV) -- Buy Under $55

LEGACY BUY LIST
Sirna Therapeutics (RNAI) -- Buy Under $7

Dear WaveRiders,

It's time to continue building our portfolios for the Great ChangeWaves of 2007 with a few new additions today in two areas I outlined last week in my mega-Weekly Update, along with one stock in a new sector that is ready for our Legacy portfolio.

IN THE CHIPS -- ANADIGICS (ANAD)

Nothing gets my attention more than the prospect of a tasty profit. That's why I'm recommending computer chip maker Anadigics (ANAD) for your Aggressive Growth portfolio today.

First I must say that "computer chip maker" is a bit of a misnomer. More specifically, the company might be called a "Chocolate" chip maker, because they make the key components found in the new ultra-thin, ultra-chic cell phone from LG Electronics called the Chocolate.

These new, hip phones are fantastic. Not only do they look ultra-cool, but they also let you make calls, play video games, take photos, stream videos and listen to music downloads -- all from a package just slightly longer, and a little thicker, than a credit card. To enable all these functions, you've got to have a chip designed to amplify power -- and squeezing the most power out of a tiny chip is Anadigics' specialty.

The way I see it, as 3G (third-generation) phones like the Chocolate grow more sophisticated, they'll need components to amplify power so they can keep up with increased requirements to perform multiple tasks.

Those increased requirements mean more Anadigics chips.

But if Anadigics were just about the 3G chips, I might not like it as much as I do. Why? Well, because the company is, as President and Chief Executive Dr. Bami Bastani recently told Barron's, not just "wireless-centric." In fact, Anadigics is riding several other waves of transformational change.

The first is, of course, the aforementioned migration to 3G cell phones and their increasing demand for amplified power. The second is the migration to WiMAX, and the third is a move toward digital set-top boxes. The company is also involved in fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) communications systems.

Now as 3G emerges, people will continue expecting more from their handheld devices-- longer talk time, better battery life, seamless convergence of voice/data/multimedia -- and as we've said, that is Anadigics' forte.

In the WiMAX, or wireless broadband, arena, Anadigics is helping to drive a revolution with its radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) and power amplifiers that enable original equipment manufacturers to build more capabilities into each new generation of products.

On the fiber front, Anadigics offers amplifiers and drivers for a variety of fiber optic applications, and in the high-speed Internet and cable service area, the company provides tuners in set-top boxes, line amplifiers and RFICs.

According to a our March 2006 ChangeWave Alliance Telecom Industry Trends survey, industry respondents saw growth in spending in all three waves -- WiMAX, 3G and FTTP. This kind of backbone support for the waves that drive demand is a key reason why I think we can get fat off of Anadigics.

From a fundamental perspective, the company has posted steadily stronger financial results over the past six quarters, and Dr. Bastani projects that revenues could more than double through 2008 -- swelling to between $300 million and $350 million from the $165 million expected this year.

The company is also ramping up production at a fabricating plant it built in the midst of the late-1990s tech bubble. The costs of that plant are now almost fully depreciated, and that means the company has got a lot of operating leverage. "We will double revenues without adding another manufacturing site," Bastani told Barron's.

Let's get in the chips with Anadigics (ANAD) with a Buy Under of $9 and a target of $18. The Strong Buy price is $8 and the Accumulate price is $10.

DIGITAL DELIVERY -- DIGITAL RIVER (DRIV)

It's amazing to me how easily we've adapted to a lifestyle that's come with the integration of reliable (and, often, high-speed) Internet access into our daily routines. Aside from the Luddites out there who are still afraid of the Net and conducting business online, this access moved from something that was a "nice to have" to become a "need to have."

E-commerce is the engine that drives a significant amount of American business, rising from a small blip on the radar to a screen that looks like rush hour at LAX. And wherever possible, more of us have come to the conclusion that we don't need to go to the store or hold something in our hand to make it tangible in a medium that's all about ones and zeroes at its core.

I'm not trying to confuse you by being vague -- we're talking software, folks.

This transition from physical to digital delivery has become a signature of smart businesses that have adapted to fulfill their customers' needs as fast and as efficiently as possible. There is a company that is dominating in helping businesses tackle the challenge of e-commerce digital distribution to deliver the bits of software to keep their customers up to speed and up to date.

Digital River (DRIV) provides many of the Web development, hosting and fulfillment services that clear the decks so companies can focus on their core competencies.

DRIV already counts some of the biggest names in American business on its roster of clients like Symantec, Motorola, 3M, H&R Block, Novell, Autodesk, ACT! and Staples.com. Their outsourcing solutions for e-commerce storefronts and Web hosting have made them a reliable partner for more than 40,000 clients since 1994, which has fueled growth. (They ranked 77th among the 100 fastest-growing companies in the 2006 Fortune list.)

All this growth has doubled the stock price while profits have risen 78% and revenues have grown 45% while providing an average stock return of 28% annually during the past three years.

And this comes before they catch a ride on the Vista Upgrade ChangeQuake. Scuttlebutt that Symantec would move their online business in-house has been debunked and now they can build revenues further as Microsoft turns to them to deliver their software as Vista comes online. Mr. Softee already uses Digital River to provide digital downloads of its Plus Digital Media for Windows XP to more than 200 online retailers, including Best Buy, CompUSA, OfficeMax and Staples.

It's a natural connection and I think Microsoft's additional business can double DRIV's operating cash flow in two years.

Digital River has appreciated a lot in the last year, but I think there's more where that came from. I recommend buying Digital River under $55 with a target of $100. DRIV is a Strong Buy under $53 and my Accumulate price is $60.

IN THE GENES -- SIRNA THERAPEUTICS (RNAI)

One of the areas I wasn't able to cover in last week's mega-update was something that drew a lot of attention as this year's Nobel Prizes were announced.

An emerging area of drug development has risen from the RNA interference (RNAi) ChangeQuake. RNAi therapies are seen as a method to target specific disease-related genes and are expected to yield treatments for diseases like cancer, viral infections and neurodegenerative disorders.

WHAT'S RNAI ALL ABOUT?

The two biologists who took home the Nobel Prize won for research they completed in 1998 that explained the machinery inside human cells that can disrupt the production of proteins by a specific gene -- blocking any harmful effects that may be related to the proteins.

What the RNAi therapies do is the equivalent of flipping a switch to fight a disease, and it means that treatments for these maladies can work in relatively low doses.

This discovery has led to a flurry of startups and attracted big money for some relatively small biotech firms. But more is certain to come, as billions will flood the sector IF the RNAi drugs work as expected.

The "if" in the previous paragraph is very important. This recommendation will be placed on our Legacy Buy List because it could be a while before my pick in this sector -- or any other stock in the sector, for that matter -- produces something that clears the trial phase. But I must reemphasize that if they do, it could be a mammoth ChangeQuake.

My pick for this sector -- and not just for the catchy ticker -- is Sirna Therapeutics (RNAI).

Sirna is one of the biotechs that attacked the RNAi field with gusto after seeing the opportunity to make RNAi drugs practical for clinical development. It has drug candidates in several area that address maladies like age-related macular degeneration (AMD), chronic hepatitis, asthma, Huntington's disease, cancer and diabetes (which puts it squarely on another wave we are very interested in). The company has strategic alliances with Allergan, Eli Lilly and GlaxoSmithKline, among others.

The balance sheet for RNAI is also looking good with $92 million in cash and no debt, and RNAI has a number of drugs in various stages of medical trials. I think Sirna's and other RNAi therapies will be the future of medicine, and it will take a while before we see results -- but I think the time to invest is now.

I recommend buying Sirna Therapeutics under $7 for your Legacy portfolio. It's a Strong Buy under $6 and the Accumulate price is $8.

THE CHANGEWAVE EFFECT

Some of the names I've recommended today are going to see sharp movements in price as our army of WaveRiders place orders to grab these stocks. This means that now is as good a time as any to remind you that you have to exercise discipline when building your ChangeWave Investing portfolio positions.

When I tell you this, the primary idea is that I don't want you to chase these stocks as the prices move higher. Remember that a great stock at a bad price is still a bad investment. I want you to be smarter than that.

So, this means that our traditional advice applies for buying these stocks (especially Sirna and Anadigics): Don't rush in and try to build you position all at once. Build positions in chunks that represent a third of your position. It's OK to cheat a little on the price or start with a one-third position at the Accumulate level if prices run up a little. Don't panic if one of these recommendation zips above the Buy Under -- they often drop below it after the initial buying frenzy.

Buy smart as you add these stocks to your ChangeWave portfolio.

Hit 'em straight,

Toby

WHERE WERE WE?

Dear WaveRiders,

In our most recent report to you in last week's Weekly Update, we told you about the findings from our proprietary ChangeWave Alliance research on Apple Computer. Our research group found "hidden strength" in the form of a resurgence in Mac sales, and we told you all about it days before the company reported results on Wednesday.

So when Apple posted results that exceeded expectations in its Mac computer line, a lot of people were surprised, but we weren't. In case you need a reminder, here's one of the conclusions we published in last week's e-mail:

Cut to our just-completed Consumer Spending survey, where an astonishing 37% of respondents said they are more likely to buy an Apple due to the Intel chip deal, nearly double the 19% we found in June 2005.

Clearly, a huge and ever-growing pool of consumers interested in buying the new Intel Mac is a monster ChangeQuake in the consumer PC market.

Here are some snippets from the Associated Press story on Apple's quarterly earnings:

Apple Computer Inc. shares climbed almost 6% Thursday after beating Wall Street's profit expectations for its fourth quarter on strong sales of its iPod and Macintosh computers. …

The move to Intel chips was part of the Cupertino-based company's larger goal to broaden its small share of the PC market. Apple has also been heavily MAPS its Mac platform in television ads that criticize the Windows operating system.

Apple's efforts are apparently paying off.

Not only was it the best Macintosh quarter in Apple's 30-year history, but a little more than half of the 323,000 computers sold in Apple's retail stores during the period were to people who had never owned a Mac before, Apple's chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer said during an analyst conference call.

"We were thrilled by that," he said.

And, frankly, so is the entire team here at ChangeWave.

You have to forgive us for bragging a little, but you if you Google "ChangeWave Research" and "Apple" today, you'll see our research now quoted in upward of 100 different media sources from Reuters to Investor's Business Daily, which had an incredible article on our research the day before Apple announced earnings.

End result: Almost $5 on the price by the close today.

Kudos to all around and especially to Dr. Paul Carton and his ChangeWave Alliance survey staff -- you've done it again!

RALLY TIME

A vast majority of our stocks are in rally mode and trading above their 200-day and 50-day simple moving averages. Take a look at the list below:

Activision (ATVI), THQ (THQI), Apple Computer (AAPL), Alvarion (ALVR), Connacher Oil & Gas (CLL.TO), Color Kinetics (CLRK), Emisphere Technologies (EMIS), Northfield Labs (NFLD), Provident Energy Trust (PVX), Silicon Motion (SIMO) and Cree (CREE).

Now I can hear a lot of you asking, "But what about the stocks that aren't working so well?" Well, our longtime WaveRiders know that pullbacks sometime represent buying opportunities and the names in temporary retreat below are the best Fresh Money Plays for those of you looking for a place for new funds or just getting started with ChangeWave.

FRESH MONEY PLAYS

AGGRESSIVE GROWTH BUY LIST
Cypress Semiconductor (CY) -- Buy Under $21 -- great buy under $17
Suntech Power Holdings (STP) -- Buy Under $30

BALLLAST GROWTH BUY LIST
Advantage Energy Income Fund (AAV) -- Buy Under $22
MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR) -- Buy Under $38 -- great buy under $35
VeriSign (VRSN) -- Buy Under $26 -- great buy under $21

BALLAST INCOME BUY LIST
Canetic Energy Trust (CNE) -- Buy Under $21
Harvest Energy Trust (HTE) -- Buy Under $33
Frontline Ltd. (FRO) -- Buy Under $36

LEGACY BUY LIST
Distributed Energy Systems (DESC) -- Buy Under $6 -- great buy under $4
FuelCell Energy (FCEL) -- Buy Under $12.50 -- great buy under $8

New cash in our Ballast plays should go to the hardest-hit trusts (Advantage Energy, Harvest and Canetic) because they represent the best opportunities right now. Pengrowth Energy Trust (PGH) under $19 and Provident Energy Trust (PVX) under $11.50 were also great buys -- not quite as good as AAV at $10.50 or Harvest at $25.78, but still good values.

I spoke with the CEOs of all our trusts (except AAV) during the San Fran Money Show and they made a very strong case for the continuity of their distributions and the power of their hedged gas and oil production to KEEP distributions in this $55-$65 oil and $5.50- $7.50 natural gas pricing environment.

Natural gas prices have definitely started to come back from the hedge fund-induced meltdown in the futures markets in September and early October. The February and March delivery contracts are still above $8-$9, which is very healthy.

BUY LIST NEWS

If you need a quick summary of buying advice on our recommended stocks, check out the Buy List Matrix. There you will find a list of the current stocks with the latest prices (with daily movement indicated by red or green numbers), plus the Buy Under, Strong Buy Under, Accumulate Under AND Target prices -- all in one place.

Now let's take a look at the rest of our Buy List companies making headlines this week.

CREE (CREE): Cree reported its fiscal Q1 2007 results and beat earnings estimates by a penny, while revenue fell short of estimates. Analysts were overly pessimistic about Cree's ability to manage margins, but today's results boil down to a picture of Cree having stopped the downward trend.

The overall LED market conditions will prevent a reversal in gross margin declines for handset LEDs, which is CREE's primary market now.

But we did get a good look at the emerging solid-state lighting LEDs guidance for the second quarter of FY 2007, which is essentially in-line with current analyst estimates.

When all of these factors are put together, it gives a picture of a company that has stopped the overall decline in margins, but not reversed them. The transformation of the business to solid-state LED chips as a major margin and revenue driver is coming SLOWLY, but this is already built into the valuation.

Cree officials noted that gross margins would fall to 39% in the near term and operating expenses would be approximately 26% of revenue. Since overall gross margin is now at 41% and operating expenses are 25.4% of revenue, these statements somewhat offset the positive indications of this quarter's margin trends.

CYPRESS SEMICONDUCTOR (CY): Cypress announced that revenue for the third quarter was $290.2 million, up 9.4% from second-quarter revenue of $265.2 million and up 27.8% from the year-ago quarter figure of $227.1 million.

Cypress posted GAAP net income of $10.7 million for the period, or 6 cents per share. This compares with 4 cents per share in Q2 and a loss of 4 cents per share in the year-ago quarter.

Cypress President and CEO T.J. Rodgers said, "Cypress's third-quarter revenue of $290.2 million was up for the sixth-consecutive quarter, reaching its highest point since the fourth quarter of 2000, the company's all-time revenue record quarter. Net income also increased for the sixth-straight quarter. Our gross margins were affected by manufacturing limitations, which we expect to improve going forward."

OUR TAKE: Cypress gave us the numbers we expected AND squashed talk of a buyout. I believe they will distribute shares of SunPower (SPWR) to shareholders, and this move will give us upside in a big way. Also we are seeing CY chips going into more and more Apple products -- stay tuned -- and it looks like we have a buying opportunity here under $17.

DISTRIBUTED ENERGY SYSTEMS (DESC): DESC subsidiary Northern Power won a $2.1 million contract from Consolidated Edison Company of New York to supply the utility with an advance version of its new MPI1800 Mobile Power Interface (MPI) power converter solution.

The MPI1800 system includes a natural gas-fired, 1.5 MW generator packaged in a mobile trailer that can be readily deployed during contingencies or deployed to multiple locations over the course of a year. It also includes a diesel fuel tank sized to allow the system to run at rated capacity for 10 hours before refueling.

Distributed Energy's Proton Energy Systems subsidiary also announced this week that its hydrogen technology group has signed a contract with Shell Hydrogen, part of Royal Dutch Shell plc to install a hydrogen fueling system in the New York City metropolitan area. The contract will showcase Proton's onsite hydrogen generation technology for vehicle fueling.

The fueling system, based on proton exchange membrane electrolysis technology, converts electrical energy and water into hydrogen fuel, which is then stored onsite and safely dispensed into clean and efficient hydrogen-fueled automobiles.

The installation of this system represents an opportunity for Proton to demonstrate the performance of its technology in harsher winter climates.

HARVEST ENERGY TRUST (HTE): Harvest has closed its previously announced acquisition of North Atlantic Refining Ltd. and related businesses for approximately $1.6 billion (Canadian) plus certain working capital and other adjustments from Vitol Refining Group B.V.

"The inclusion of North Atlantic with Harvest improves our long-term sustainability and positions Harvest as a uniquely integrated energy trust," said John Zahary, Harvest's president and CEO. "The future potential of the refinery includes approximately $700 million (Canadian) of growth capital projects with attractive incremental economics. North Atlantic continues to produce gasoline and ultra-low sulphur diesel products that meet the stringent specification of the premium-priced markets in the United States with a relatively low level of annual capital expenditures."

INTERMEC (IN): Intermec introduced a compact, reusable RFID (radio frequency identification) tag ideal for harsh industrial applications where ruggedness, chemical resistance or extreme temperatures are a factor.

The Small Rigid Tag measures 1.22 inches by 3.11 inches (3.10 centimeters by 7.90 centimeters) and is equipped with a wide-band antenna design that allows the tag to be used practically anywhere in the world on virtually any surface, including metal, plastic and wood. The compact and rugged design can withstand extreme temperatures from -40 to 250 F (-40 to 121 C) and long-term exposure to chemicals such as machining oil, methyl ethyl ketone, isopropyl alcohol, acetone and kerosene.

The reusable RFID Small Rigid Tag can be used thousands of times, making the new tag even more economical to use than disposable tags. It can be easily applied to a variety of applications in supply chain and asset management operations, including reusable plastic containers, metal cages, pallets, beverage containers, hazardous materials containers and chemical containers.

The Small Rigid Tag is part of Intermec's full suite of RFID tags and inlays, which includes more than 50 EPC Gen 2-compliant products.

PRECISION DRILLING TRUST (PDS): Precision Drilling Trust announced that its distribution for the fourth quarter will be at the same rate as the third quarter, 31 cents (Canadian) per trust unit per month. These monthly payments also will be made to holders of Class B limited partnership units of Precision Drilling Limited Partnership.

The cash distribution for October 2006 will be payable on Nov. 15 to unitholders of record on Oct. 31. The ex-distribution date is Oct. 27.

SANDISK (SNDK): SanDisk reported a third-quarter revenue increase of 27% on a year-over-year basis to a record $751 million. Third-quarter net income was $103 million, or 51 cents per share.

Excluding the impact of stock compensation expense and amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets and the related tax effects, third quarter non-GAAP net income grew 15% to $124 million, or 61 cents per share, which compares to the year-ago income report of $107 million, or 55 cents per share.

VERISIGN (VRSN): VeriSign reported total revenue of $400 million for the third quarter, compared with $392 million for the second quarter. VeriSign ended the third quarter with cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and short-term investments of $709 million and deferred revenue of $590 million.

"We continue to remain focused on the needs of our global customer base and on the execution of our strategic initiatives," said Stratton Sclavos, chairman and CEO of VeriSign. "We achieved a number of key milestones in the third quarter including record levels of business in our core Internet services and the Joint Venture announcement with News Corp. to create a vertically oriented mobile entertainment company."

VeriSign is not providing detailed GAAP or non-GAAP financials for the quarter ended due to the previously announced review and analysis of VeriSign's historical stock option grants being conducted by an ad hoc group of independent directors. The independent directors currently anticipate completing the investigation before the end of the year.

OUR TAKE: VeriSign reported what we expected -- flat sales in Q3. I don't see a change in VRSN for a few more qua.rters, and we will review our numbers on the company to get a better sense of the catalysts we need to get the stock moving past $25.

My Three Favorite Speculative Plays

Might as well spell out the speculative gems here. As I write in Jim Cramer's Real Money: Sane Investing in an Insane World, I think that speculation, for at least a portion of your "Mad Money" portfolio, not only can be done, it should be done.

But I think that it has to be done on a limited basis and with something that has a real shot at working out. I have been dancing around the names that I think have a chance, but it's time to spell them out now.

My three faves right now are Qwest (Q - news - Cramer's Take - Rating), Level 3 (LVLT - news - Cramer's Take - Rating) and Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA - news - Cramer's Take - Rating). Let me explain why these can work and work big here.

First, Qwest is turning around so fast that I think people don't even realize how strong the numbers are. The broadband revolution finally has hit the old-fashioned telcos with a vengeance. We saw the same thing with the BellSouth (BLS - news - Cramer's Take - Rating) and AT&T (T - news - Cramer's Take - Rating) quarters, and Qwest is gaining share and growing again. I don't think anyone realizes how much cash these companies can throw off.

Meanwhile, while lots of people want to play the growth of the Internet through an F5 Networks (FFIV - news - Cramer's Take - Rating) or an Akamai (AKAM - news - Cramer's Take - Rating) -- both very worthy choices -- I think the best way to play it is with Level 3. It's growing as fast as many of these companies when it comes to the Internet, at least, but it needs to fix its capital structure. It will, and the stock could double in 18 months when it does.

Finally, I like Arena Pharma because it has not one but two drugs in formulation, one for diabetes and one for obesity. It cut its revenue forecast this week and freaked everyone out. That's an opportunity. I don't like it because of its revenue, I like it for the approval of the drugs.

I think that these are among the best speculative plays out there and I thought that rather than just haphazardly mentioning them every other week on radio, I should just spell them out here.
